Nicholas DiEugenio

Nicholas DiEugenio leads a versatile musical life as soloist, chamber musician, concertmaster, and teacher, and performs in these roles across the country and throughout the world. A graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Music as a student of David Cerone, Linda Cerone, and Paul Kantor, he has continued his studies at the Yale School of Music with Ani Kavafian.

Mr. DiEugenio has performed concertos, recitals, and given masterclasses around the country. He recently visited the University of Arkansas as a guest artist, giving both a recital and masterclass. In April, he appeared for the second time as soloist with the Cleveland Bach Conosort. Mr. DiEugenio has been a soloist with the National Repertory Orchestra, Cleveland Pops, and CIM Orchestra, as well as many festival orchestras. Mr. DiEugenio was a prizewinner at the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, and a semi-finalist at the Irving M. Klein, Corpus Christi, and Heida Hermann Competitions.

As a student at the Cleveland Institute of Music's Young Artist Program in 1998, Mr. DiEugenio was an original member of the Biava Quartet, named for mentor and role model Luis Biava. Mr. DiEugenio has also served as the first violinist of the iO Quartet, a graduate quartet-in-residence at Purchase College. Along with the Cavani String Quartet and Peter Salaff, Mr. DiEugenio has coached and performed chamber music, including a movement of Mendelssohn's Octet on the chamber floor of Ohio's State House of Representatives.

Mr. DiEugenio served as concertmaster of the National Repertory Orchestra for two summer seasons, and similarly as a student at CIM and Yale. He has been a guest concertmaster under Ransom Wilson at the Sugar Creek Symphony and Song festival in Illinois, and has also been Leader of the Cleveland Bach Consort, directed by Lucas Waldin.

With an interest in music as the ultimate communicative form, he travelled as a member of the 2006 Music for the People tour to the Philippines, performing, teaching, and sharing in cultural exchange.

Always eager to collaborate with composers as well as across disciplines, in 2007 he took part in a project with composer Noam Sivan, choreographers, and dancers of the American Ballet School at Lincoln Center, additionally performing Mr. Sivan's piece at the Juilliard School.  Nicholas received a violin Scholarship from the Virtu Foundation.
