Boson Mo
A native of Boston, Boson Mo was born to Chinese parents in May, 1990. Boson discovered the violin at the age of seven, and shortly began his studies in Montreal under the tutelage of Keqiang Li. As both a soloist and chamber musician, Boson has had lessons and master classes with world renowned artists such as Donald Weilerstein, Joseph Silverstein, Marc Durand, Jerome Lowenthal, and Peter Salaff.
Since the age of ten, Boson has been continuously entering competitions with tremendous success. Some of his achievements include First Prize at the Canadian Music Competition, and Third Prize at the Montreal Symphony Orchestra National Competition, while in 2006, Boson was selected as the youngest semi-finalist to participate at the quadrennial Montreal International Violin Competition. As a chamber musician, Boson has also received many distinctions at the national level in Canada, including the “Wilfred Harvey Award for the Best Small Ensemble Performance” awarded by the Canadian Music Educators' Association. Boson frequently performs in both Canada and the U.S., while his performances have also reached wider international audiences of China and Spain. Boson has also participated at international music academies such as Morningside Music Bridge, and the Aspen Music Festival and School, and will be returning to Aspen for his second year as a full tuition fellowship student this summer.
Currently, Boson is a recipient of the D.R. Starling Foundation Scholarship, while his violin is provided by a scholarship grant from the Virtu Foundation Scholarship. Boson is a student of Paul Kantor at the Cleveland Institute of Music.
