Juan Sebastián Delgado

Juan Sebastián was born in Mendoza, Argentina, where he started his cello`s studies at early age with Néstor Longo and at the Music School of his hometown. After receiving the Stimulus Prize, at the age of 14, he made his solo cello debut at the Museum of Modern Arts of Mendoza. Furthermore, he won a scholarship given by Antorchas Foundation for attending the International Festival and Seminar of Baroque Music in Bariloche, with Manfredo Kraemer. In 2003 and 2004, he was the only cellist selected for performing in the international master classes by Ingrid Zur and Jorg Heyer, from the Frankfurt Music University. In addition, he has performed as soloist and with the Andino cello Ensemble at the First International Festival for Young Musicians and the cycle Classical Music “The Wine Roads in Mendoza”. In 2005, he won one of the five international music scholarships for studying at the United World College of the Adriatic in Italy.There, he had intensive musical activity: chamber music with the famous Trio di Trieste, the pianist Maureen Jones, and cello with Enrico Bronzi (cellist of Trio Di Parma) of important influence in his musical training. Furthermore, he started to play in duo with the Albanian pianist Redi Llupa with whom he has successfully performed in several halls in Italy, Croatia, Slovenia, Austria and US. In 2007, he obtained The International Baccalaureate Diploma. He has won the Dino Caravita Chamber Music Competition in Italy (2007), the Honors Chamber Music Competition in US (2008), and the mention “Young Musician Revelation” by a local newspaper in Argentina. He has taken master classes with Natalie Clein, Bonnie Hampton, Nina Diehl and Trio Di Parma. Since September of 2007, he is doing the Bachelor of Music in Cello Performance at The Boston Conservatory with the renowned cellist Rhonda Rider, current reference in his musical perfomance. He is awarded with the Conservatory Scholarship, Davis UWC Scholarship and the Presidential Award. He has recently obtained The Virtu Foundation Instrumental Scholarship Award, playing on a contemporary American cello made by David Caron.
