Abigail Fayette
Abigail Fayette, 14, from Wading River, New York, is the youngest of four children in a musical family. She began her musical studies at the age of 3 with Jo Schifter at North Shore Suzuki School, continued with Min-Young Kim of the Daedalus Quartet and School for Strings in New York City and, in 2004, was accepted into the Pre-College Division of the Juillliard School as a scholarship student of Shirley Givens.
In December of 2004 she won the Pre-College Chamber Orchestra Concerto Competition and made her Lincoln Center debut performing Mozart's D Major Violin Concerto. She has also performed at the New York Society for Ethical Culture and as soloist with the Sound Symphony during it's 2007 Summer Concert Series.
In 2005 she was invited to attend the Hotchkiss Summer Portals in Music program, a chamber music seminar for violinists, violists, cellists and pianists aged 12-15. She has also attended the Greenwood Music Camp since 2004 and performed Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto with the camp orchestra in 2007. During the 2007-08 school year she was one of 8 violinists selected to inaugurate a new intensive chamber music program at Juilliard.
In October of 2007 Abi spent a week in Texas performing six Outreach Concerts in association with the El Paso School District and the El Paso Symphony. She gave recitals and performed Paganini's Violin Concerto #1 with the El Paso Symphony Youth Orchestra under the direction of Ben Loeb.
An 8th-grade honors student at Albert G. Prodell Middle School in Shoreham, New York, Abi enjoys bike riding, field hockey, chamber music and reading and spends time caring for her family's 3 dogs, 4 cats and fish, Roger.
