James Shaw

James Maurice Shaw is currently in his second year as a violist in the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra in New Orleans, Louisiana.  Mr. Shaw has recieved a bachelors degree in Music performance from the University of Denver where he studied with Basil Vendryes and a Masters degree in performance from rice university where he studied viola with Karen Ritscher and chamber music with Paul Katz, James Dunham and Norman Fischer.  He holds a masters degree in orchestral conducting from Kent State University where he held a quartet fellowship and studied with Miro and Miami String quartets.  There he was teaching assistant of John Largess and Chauncey Patterson. 

Mr. Shaw has is currently principle violist of the Bard Conductor's Orchestra and has been principle of Mckeesport Symphony among other Orchestras.  In 2005-2006 Mr. Shaw was invited to tour the U.S. with recording artist Ottmar Liebert.
