Cellist Tony Rymer wins 12th Annual Sphinx Competition.

Playing the forth movement of Elgar’s Concerto for Cello in E Minor, Virtu Scholar Tony Rymer won the senior division of the 12th annual Sphinx Competition before a full-house audience at the Max M. Fisher Music Center in Detroit. Tony, 19, is from Boston where he attends the New England Conservatory, is the recipient of the Laurence Lesser Presidential Scholarship and is a student of Paul Katz. Tony plays a Virtu Foundation cello made by David Caron of Taos, New Mexico.
