Virtu Makes Contributions To New Song Center String Program

10/2/07

The Virtu Foundation has made an unrestricted contribution of five thousand dollars to and, additionally, procured twenty-six student violins for the New Song Learning Center in Baltimre, Maryland. New Song's String Music program, which was founded with support from the Virtu Foundation, introduces elementary school-aged children to the wonders and challenges of learning music through playing the violin. New Song is located in the heart of one of Baltimore's most economically depressed areas. Alexis Schultz, who heads the program at New Song, credits the program with enhancing the self-esteem of the young musicians. Virtu's contributions were substantially funded by a grant from a Charlottesville based family foundation with a special interest in supporting youth music programs.
