Virtu supports music programs which have strong community roots. The New Song Center in Baltimore, Maryland is an example of such a program. New Song, a community school, is located in one of the most disadvantaged parts of Baltimore. Virtu provided the seed money and instruments to start a string music teaching program initially for second and third grade students. This program has now matured to include students at all grade levels.
